944 Magazine Food and Dining Issue at the Hotel Palomar

Last night was awesome. Our friend and 944 intern Mischa Armada invited us to the Hotel Palomar in Westwood for the 944 Food and Dining issue release party promising good food and an open bar. She was right! The crowd was small but fun, the food was delicious, and the venue, BLVD 16, was amazing. The only complaint could be that the music was a little quiet but it allowed for much easier conversation. Check out some of the pictures below and then go grab a copy of the mag, pick up some Kobe beef sliders, make yourself a Green Dragon cocktail and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

Pick up a copy of the LA food and dining issue on shelves now.
Kobe beef sliders . . . so bomb!

The dudes from Blackwell and Wesley were stoked.
The camera was loving us.

Burton/Analog Skate Party.

I have historically been a fan of the lazy Sunday - sleep in, big brunch, mellow skate, get organized for the week, watch a movie, etc. After a particularly hectic week, I was really looking forward to practicing this ritual yesterday. Unfortunately this was not in the cards . . . In the early afternoon I recieved a call from my friend Ingrid who works over at Burton on Melrose telling me that they were having a rooftop skate party for some of the Analog riders who were in town and that I should grab some friends and come check it out. Having missed the Vermont Burton Bash this year I decided to head down. Burton totally killed it! They brought out a few sick skate features and provided live music, free food, an open bar, and a totally rad rooftop setting. After the party died down we all headed over to Hyde and kept the party going until the early morning. Check out the pics and please don't try to get in touch with me tonight, I am going to sleep as soon as I get home from the office.

I was told there was going to be a mini ramp.

Shaper Update

We went down to hang out with Michael Andrews for a while yesterday and to check up on the boards for the ASR show as well as a bunch of customs. They are all looking pretty freaking sweet. We also put a new retro single fin into the works that we will post pics of soon. Big ups go out to John from the Whittier College Surf Club for the original template, the board is going to be unreal. Here are a few teaser pics of what's coming in the near future.

A sweet retro single fin for the show.

Surfer Mag Visit.

We had the opportunity to go down to the Surfer Mag headquarters on Tuesday in order to meet the people behind the monthly bible and have pictures taken of our some of our boards for the January Board Buyers Guide. Everyone down there was really cool and we are definitely looking forward to a return visit. After taking the grand tour we were both most amazed at the warehouse filled with a copy of every issue going back to the early 70's. The place is legendary.

Dylan goes to Santa Cruz.

Me, my roommate Sam, and my friend Lili took a last minute trip up to Santa Cruz to score some waves from one of the first good swells of the season. We left friday afternoon and got to Lili's sister's house that night. We checked some surf spots in SLO on the way up but unfortunately there were no waves to be found. On Saturday morning Sam and I woke up early to surf and actually ended up driving around Santa Cruz for like 2 hours before settling on surfing Manresa. It was waist to chest high when we got there and by the time we the left shoulder high sets had begun to roll in. After getting some food we decided to surf again so we went over to Pleasure Point and got about an hour of fun, shoulder high surf to close out an awesome first day. We crashed early that night because we wanted to head over to the Lane early. We ended up surfing 6-8 foot waves until we couldn't paddle anymore. That session capped off our Santa Cruz trip and we headed back home, beaten but by no means broken.

Full of Beans came through strong by providing us with the early morning essentials . . . warmth and energy in the form of awesome coffee.

Fresh Tracks

On a whim we decided to make a trip up to Mammoth to enjoy a little break from the office last weekend and ended up scoring epic conditions. The snow was unbelievable and even with only a few lifts open offered more than enough for all of us to shred. Tons of little cliff drops and natural terrain provided the ultimate playground to spin, press, butter, bonk, jib, tap, and flip on, over, and around (short movie coming soon). After spending most of Saturday filming in the park we awoke to over a foot of fresh powder on Sunday morning which instantly put the "no friends on a powder day" rule into effect. After two full 6-8 hour sessions on the hill we had to head back to the city on Sunday night. Basically the weekend was perfect and to call it pre-season would not do it justice. It was more like full on SEASON with no lift lines or crowds. Check the video and make sure to say "what up" when you see us up there again next weekend.
